Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Books and A Beat.
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
This week’s book:
Book Title: Love, Lies and Spies
Author: Cindy Anstey
Publication Date: April 19th 2016
Genres: Historical Fiction, Romance, YA
Age Range: 14+ years old
Juliana Telford is not your average nineteenth-century young lady. She’s much more interested in researching ladybugs than marriage, fashionable dresses, or dances. So when her father sends her to London for a season, she’s determined not to form any attachments. Instead, she plans to secretly publish their research.
Spencer Northam is not the average young gentleman of leisure he appears. He is actually a spy for the War Office, and is more focused on acing his first mission than meeting eligible ladies. Fortunately, Juliana feels the same, and they agree to pretend to fall for each other. Spencer can finally focus, until he is tasked with observing Juliana’s traveling companions . . . and Juliana herself.
“Oh my, this is embarrassing,” Miss Juliana Telford said aloud. There was no reason to keep her thoughts to herself, as she was alone, completely alone. In fact, that was half of the probelm. The other half was, of course, that she was hanging off the side of a cliff with the inability to climb either up or down and in dire need of rescue.
As last week, I’ve broken the rules again. I did not open to a random page as I don’t want to be spoiled
because I’m only 33 pages in (I’ve been preoccupied). The teaser I shared is, in fact, the first paragraph of the first page. And it isn’t only 2 sentences, so that’s another rule broken. Surprisingly, I’ve been enjoying this book so far. I haven’t read much historical fiction so this is like a breath of fresh air for me. Hopefully this book won’t disappoint.
Have a teaser of your own? Leave a link to your post in the comments section, or if you don’t have a blog, you can just comment a teaser below too. Thanks for stopping by!
